The first Japanese anime to be written and directed by Americans, Tekkon won the Japanese Academy Award for Best Animated Film and was nominated for Best First Feature at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival. Caroline is also an adjunct professor at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and an active lecturer.Īnthony Weintraub is a screenwriter, producer, and director and is perhaps most known for his 2007 screenplay adaptation of the graphic novel Tekkonkinkreet by acclaimed manga creator Taiyo Matusmoto. In 1999, motivated by reports of families fleeing their homes in Kosovo, Caroline founded the non-profit organization FilmAid International, which brings films and video to refugees and displaced around the world, providing life-saving information, easing psychological suffering, fostering understanding, and engaging the mind. Nominated for an Oscar for her work on Capote, Caroline most recently won a Golden Globe for her work on the Amazon Original series Mozart in the Jungle. Caroline also produced Witness to the Mob for Tribeca Productions with Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal. Beginning her career in 1983 as the production manager on the cult classic The Toxic Avenger, Caroline has worked on numerous projects, serving as the associate producer for the hit TV series The Wonder Years and co-producing such films as Center Stage, Flawless, Addicted to Love, and Mira Nair’s Kama Sutra. In addition to Capote, Caroline produced the cross-cultural hit Monsoon Wedding, winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and numerous other awards.
